Little Shop of Horrors is based on a 1960 B-movie of the same name, which centers on down-and-out flower shop employee, Seymour Krelbourn, and his unidentifiable plant with a thirst for human blood. This rip-roaring dark comedy, with music by Alan Menken and lyrics and book by Howard Ashman, includes an unforgettable pop score, including numbers like "Skid Row," "Somewhere That's Green," "Feed Me," and "Suddenly Seymour," not to mention the famous title song and a slew of others. The musical began Off-Broadway in 1982 and quickly became a cult hit, garnering 2,209 performances during its five-year run.

The subsequent film incarnation, starring Rick Moranis, Ellen Greene and Steve Martin (among others), shot 'Little Shop' into infamy. After numerous productions and tours across the world, including a vibrant Broadway production in 2003, Little Shop of Horrors gets a brand new life and re-envisioning by Bayou City Theatrics, here in Houston.

The cast includes the company's Artistic Director, Colton Berry, donning the horn-rimmed glasses as Seymour Krelbourn, Erin Wasmund (last seen as Cinderella in Bayou City Theatrics' critical success, Into the Woods) as Audrey, his delightfully ditzy love interest, Curtis Barber as Mr. Mushnik, the cranky owner of the flower shop, Andrew Roblyer as Audrey's sadistic dentist boyfriend and a myriad of other characters. Wendy Taylor, Ronna Mansfield and Miatta Lebile step into the roles of Crystal, Ronnette and Chiffon, the doo-wop, girl-group Greek chorus while Matt Johnson brings a frighteningly soulful presence to the voice of Audrey Two.

Little Shop of Horrors runs Friday and Saturday nights, February 22, 23 and March 1, 2 at 8:00 p.m. as well as 3:00 p.m. matinees on Sunday, February 24 and March 3 at Frenetic Theater. Please visit www.BayouCityTheatrics.com for tickets and more info.
