Bayou City Concert Musicals is getting in the spirit of the season with three special events in December:

December 14: BCCM's Popular Lecture Series Returns

Bayou City Concert Musical's Music Director and Conductor, Dr. Dominique Røyem, will present the lecture Music as Drama: Transformation at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, December 14, 2014, at the Russian Cultural Center, 2337 Bissonnet.

Using Henry Higgins from My Fair Lady, Dr. Røyem, who is also the Music Director of the Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra, will trace how a good score helps the audience understand the private realities and transformations of a character. She will also expand her thesis to show how music transforms a play into a musical.

Tickets are $35 per person and are available at the BCCM website, www.bayoucityconcertmusicals.org or by phone at 713-465-6484.

December 16: Yuletide Nights at Bayou Bend

BCCM is honored to be asked by the Museum of Fine Arts-Houston to provide the musical entertainment for the opening night, 6:00-9:00 p.m., December 16, 2014, of the annual Yuletide Nights: Spirits of Holidays Past celebration at the historic Bayou Bend home of the late Ima Hogg.

As the annual event spotlights the festive lights, decorations and holiday room settings that bring Early American holiday celebrations to life, some of Houston's favorite musical theatre performers (Jennifer Gilbert, John Gremillion, Joe Kirkendall, Joel Sandel, and Tamara Siler) will be singing from the Great American Christmas Songbook, featuring favorites from Broadway and the movies with a few traditional tunes thrown in for good measure, all under the musical direction of the very talented Michael Mertz.

Tickets for this event are available through Bayou Bend and the Museum of Fine Arts-Houston.

December 19: Christmas on Broadway

Bayou City Concert Musicals will reprise the seasonal music for a special night of Christmas on Broadway at Ovations in the Village, Friday, December 19, at 8:00 p.m. BCCM performers Jennifer Gilbert, Joe Kirkendall, Joel Sandel, and Tamara Siler will take an expansive view of "Broadway" and include tunes from the breadth of the Great American Christmas Songbook from musical theatre to movies to pop.

Tickets are $25 in advance and $35 at the door. Advance tickets are available at www.bayoucityconcertmusicals.org or by phone at 713-465-6484.

Bayou City Concert Musicals is funded in part by grants from the Cullen Trust for the Performing Arts and the City of Houston through the Houston Arts Alliance.
