Behind the Ministry written by Reginald Jones and Charlotte Burnett tells the compelling contemporary story of a young pastor trying to hold his family and congregation together when a secret from his past threatens to tear them apart.
"Sins of the Mother" written by Tony Morelli tells the story of three generations of African American women dealing with the devastating effects of Alcoholism on their family. Set in 1956 in the row houses of Philadelphia, the show is a roller-coaster showcase of emotions for the actresses.
Says Vincent Victoria, the director of both of the one acts, "Both plays offer a chance to give the audience distinct styles of writing, acting, and time periods all within two hours of theater. It is an exciting challenge to create the two different emotional and physical worlds in which both plays' characters live. Behind the Ministry has a very modern way of storytelling that is very familiar to fans of urban contemporary plays, whereas Sins of the Mother has a definite period feel and richness to the language that should thrill the lover of beautiful dialogue. What both shows share though is the theme that FAMILY bonds us no matter what secrets , dysfunctions, or transgressions try to separate that bond."
"Behind the Ministry" and "Sins of the Mother" will be performed for one weekend only( March 18-20).Showtimes are Fri. and Sat at 8pm and Sunday at 3pm. Tickets are $20 online and will be be available at www.banksbrothersproductions.com beginning March 1 and $25 at the door.
