Theresa Rebeck (creator of the Alley’s success The Scene and Bad Dates) returns to the Alley with Mauritius. The title, Mauritius, refers to an island off the coast of Africa from which a now highly collectible stamp, described as "the crown jewel of philately," was issued in the age of Victoria. Like the Maltese Falcon, the Mauritius stamp is the fraught object of desire for an assortment of shady characters with different and mysterious backgrounds and motives, who move through the twists of the plot's crosses and double-crosses. Recommended for mature audiences.

Mauritius by Theresa Rebeck and directed by Scott Schwartz begins Friday, April 10 and runs through Sunday, May 3 on the Hubbard Stage.

The Alley Theatre is supported by the 2008-2009 season sponsor Continental Airlines, the official airline of the Alley Theatre.

The cast of Mauritius features Alley Theatre Resident Company Actors Elizabeth Bunch as Jackie, Jeffrey Bean as Philip, Chris Hutchison as Dennis, and David Rainey as Sterling. Also included in the cast is Kelly McAndrew, making her Alley debut as Mary (Broadway’s Cat on a Hot Tin Roof).

The design team of Mauritius includes Scenic Design and Lighting Design by Kevin Rigdon (Alley’s Secret Order, The Unexpected Guest, Underneath the Lintel, The Lieutenant of Inishmore), Costume Design by Alejo Vietti (Alley’s Cyrano de Bergerac, The Scene, Tryst, Orson’s Shadow), Original Composition and Sound Design by Josh Schmidt (Alley’s Eurydice, The Clean House) and Fight Director Brian Byrnes (Alley’s Cyrano de Bergerac, Othello, The Pillowman).
