4th Wall Theatre Company has announced that due to an overwhelming critical mass of support in its community, and the financial support of Ken Bohan, President and owner of The Liberty Group - who will lead fundraising efforts and help implement necessary changes that will move the organization forward - 4th Wall Theatre Company is staying open!

Mr. Bohan has issued a $100,000 match challenge, which if met will allow 4th Wall to continue working towards fulfilling its mission of paying theatrical artists a living wage, and bringing Houston theatre-goers extraordinary performances for years to come.

The opening of RECKLESS by Craig Lucas will begin the largest fundraising effort in 4th Wall's history. In addition to our donor's match challenge, Artistic Directors, Kim Tobin-Lehl and Philip Lehl have put together a strategy for what 4th Wall needs next. A nationwide search is currently underway to hire 4th Wall's first-ever Managing Director, who will have responsibility for the administrative and fundraising side of the award-winning organization. This will allow Houston's premiere acting couple to stay right where they should be: here in Houston, on stage. A complete job description for this new position will be released before the end of 2017, with the intent of filling the position before the next fiscal year begins in July.

Thanks to these exciting developments, 4th Wall Theatre will put the regional premiere of Suzanne Bradbeer's SHAKESPEARE IN VEGAS back on the schedule: May 17, 2018 through June 9, 2018. The show will feature both Kim Tobin-Lehl and Philip Lehl in the leading roles and will be directed by Jennifer Dean, who directed 4th Wall's production of THE GOD GAME (also by Suzanne Bradbeer), as well as the highly acclaimed WHO'S AFRAID OF Virginia Woolf. Tickets for SHAKESPEARE IN VEGAS will be on sale once RECKLESS opens. (SHAKESPEARE IN VEGAS is already included in season subscription packages.)

4th Wall's fundraising match challenge kicks off December 1, 2017. Appropriately titled "Wall of Strength and Solidarity", it will honor the company's commitment to Houston artists and patrons. An artistic "wall" in the theatre will recognize select patrons, who will be able to purchase a "brick" commemorating their support. Various giving levels have been established, allowing theatre-lovers to give regardless of their income.

"We want the wall to commemorate not just the growth and survival of 4th Wall Theatre, but the spirit of giving in the community, and the fortitude of Houston patrons of the arts who made sure 4th Wall Theatre survived," says Kim Tobin-Lehl, Co-Artistic Director. "Such generosity gives resonance to our commitment to fair pay for our artists, and underscores the importance of keeping the mid-tier theatre community alive and thriving in Houston."

Since its inception seven years ago, 4th Wall has become one of the most sought-after professional small theatres in the country for actors. The company routinely attracts outside talent to Houston, including New York's award-winning BEDLAM. 4th Wall is also known for bringing in huge Broadway hits like DISGRACED, LOBBY HERO, and GOD OF CARNAGE; reviving American classics like TRUE WEST and WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINA WOOLF?; spotting off beat hits like SMALL MOUTH SOUNDS; and being Houston's "go to" for anything Shakespeare.

4th Wall Theatre could not be more proud or more committed to working harder than ever to be an integral part of the Houston arts community, and salutes its patrons who said, "we will not let you close!"

4th Wall Theatre's production of RECKLESS by Craig Lucas is currently running at STUDIO 101 through December 16th and tickets are available through the website: www.4thwalltheatreco.com.
