Ledward Kaapana at Kahilu Theatre

Slack key master Ledward Kaapana (recent recipient of the NEA Heritage Award, America’s highest honor for a traditional artist) will headline on Friday night with 12-string guitarist and singer Mike Kaawa joining for some of their stunning duets. The legendary Reverend Dennis Kamakahi will perform a rare solo set highlighting many of the most beloved songs he has composed over the past four decades. One of Waimea’s own, slack key master Sonny Lim will open with a multi-generational group of talented family and friends. A jam session is likely to close this star studded evening of classic Hawaiian music.
