Cyril Pahinui at Kahilu Theatre

A night of great traditional and contemporary Hawaiian music is in store for Saturday with the legendary Cyril Pahinui and his trio making their Kahilu debut. Back by popular demand, multiple Hoku winners Nathan Aweau and Jeff Peterson will combine forces for some powerful duets. They’ll also share some solos and join jazz ‘ukulele virtuoso Benny Chong for some rousing trios sure to lift the roof off the building. As always with the evening concerts at the Waimea ‘Ukulele and Slack Key Guitar Institute, the artists are given maximum freedom to play what they want with whomever they want, so expect lots of exciting and unique combinations as these virtuoso performers honor a musical tradition that has its roots right here in Waimea.
