The Hawai'i return of Disney's THE LION KING opens tonight, Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 7:30pm at the Blaisdell Concert Hall for a limited engagement of eight weeks through March 9, 2014. In Hawai'i, THE LION KING plays Tuesday through Thursday evenings at 7:30pm, Friday evenings at 8pm, Saturdays at 2pm and 8pm and Sundays at 1pm and 6:30pm. There will also be a 2pm matinee performance on Friday, March 7.

"After our sold-out, record-breaking engagement in 2007, we are incredibly excited to return to the Blaisdell Concert Hall. Hawaii's Aloha Spirit embraced us seven years ago and we're honored to see how the Islands are again accepting The Lion King with a warm aloha." said Jack Lucas, President, WestCoast Entertainment. Lucas went on to say, "Due to how well the show sold last time, I strongly recommend people buy their tickets in advance because of the limited eight-week engagement."

Tickets to THE LION KING are available at the Blaisdell Box Office and all TicketMaster outlets, by calling 866-870-2717 or via the Internet at LionKing.com. Ticket prices for the engagement start as low as $30 (exclusive of service fees). Groups of 10 or more may save by calling 808/593-9468. Premium Ticket Packages, which include prime seat locations, a commemorative souvenir program and an exclusive merchandise item, are also available.

THE LION KING began as a 1994 animated feature-length film developed and produced by the Walt Disney Company. The story, a coming of age parable set among animals indigenous to its setting, the African savanna, tells the tale of Simba, the lion cub who rises to be the King of the jungle.

The production features Patrick R. Brown as "Scar", L. Steven Taylor as "Mufasa", Brown Lindiwe Mkhize as "Rafiki", Andrew Gorell as "Zazu", Ben Jeffrey as "Pumbaa", Nick Cordileone as "Timon", Jelani Remy as "Simba", Nia Holloway as "Nala", Keith Bennett as "Banzai", Rashada Dawan as "Shenzi" and Robbie Swift as "Ed."

The role of "Young Simba" is alternated between Jordan Hall and Nathaniel McIntyre and the role of "Young Nala" is alternated between Nya Carter and Zyasia Page.

The North American touring productions of THE LION KING have been seen by more than 15 million theatergoers and grossed over $1 billion to date. Having already played more than 70 cities across North America, THE LION KING now proudly makes its Hawai'i return at the Blaisdell Concert Hall. The current schedule is listed below.
