ProArts Inc., will present SLEEPING BEAUTY, new "fractured fairy tale" musical adaptation of the classic story at the Pro-Arts Playhouse (1280 South Kihei Rd., Kihei) from June 18-June 27 with performances Fridays at 7:30 pm, Saturdays at 4:00 and 7:30 pm, and Sundays at 1:00 and 4:00 pm.

From the creative team that brought you CINDERELLA, the beloved story of SLEEPING BEAUTY is brought to life anew by some of Maui's best performers. Nine actors play all the roles in this "fractured fairy tale" musical version of the classic Grimm Brothers tale. The musical is complete with a beautiful princess, a handsome prince with a magic sword, a doting King and Queen and their story-telling assistant, a wise-cracking vulture, a psychic frog, good fairies to bring a happy ending, and one really bad fairy to make things difficult. Audience members are seated right next to the stage for a surround-theatre experience. SLEEPING BEAUTY is recommended for family audiences- kids, parents, and grandparents will all enjoy this wacky new version of the beloved tale. After the performance, the audience is invited to meet the characters one-on-one, completing this magical theatrical event.

The SLEEPING BEAUTY cast features Tom Althouse, Jett Batoon, Dale Button, Cyndi Mayo Davis, Paul Janes-Brown, Rose Roselinsky, Barbara Sedano, Kristi Scott, and Cameron Sparks.

The creative team includes director Jonathan Lehman, musical director Clayton Logue, costume designer Kathleen Schulz, scenic designer Caro Walker, and lighting designer Bonnie Prucha. The show is written and produced by Doug Kendrick and Jonathan Lehman.

Tickets will cost $12.00 for Adult General Admission and $10.00 for those audience members 10 and under or 62 and over. For more information, or to purchase tickets, visit online at www.proartspacific.com or call 808-875-4367.
