Oceanside Productions, Kaua`i's newest theatre company, announces the February 18, 2010 opening of The Complete History of America (abridged), a hilarious, wild ride from pre-settlement America to current day politics where no public figure escapes unscathed. Directed by Cass Foster, an internationally-acclaimed director, author, fight choreographer and professor emeritus, the show features popular local actors Ross Martineau and Jeff Demma, who return to the stage along with seasoned actor and Nellie Foster.
"This hilarious 90-minute comedy features a troupe who cheerfully run riot over five-hundred years of our country's history as they repeatedly assume new characters," said Cass Foster. "The writing is witty, the action is fast-paced, and this new comedy will provide an excellent choice for anyone on Kaua`i looking for quality evening entertainment at an affordable price. Oceanside Productions is committed to making shows accessible and offering online discounts at an exclusive Kama`aina rate."
Making its Kaua'i debut next month, the show is among the longest running comedies in London and has received rave international reviews. The authors of the show, Adam Long, ReEd Martin and Austin Tichenor, also penned The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged), which had two prior sold-out runs on Kaua`i. According to the Boston Herald, "The Complete History of America (abridged) is what The Daily Show would be like if it were hosted by the Marx Brothers." Performances of The Complete History of America (abridged) will be in the Paddle Room at the Aston Kaua`i Beach at Maka`iwa at 650 Aleka Loop in Kapa`a, just north of the Coconut Marketplace off of Kuhio Hwy. Shows are Thursday and Friday nights at 7:30 p.m. Seating is limited, and the initial run has twelve performances on tap; ongoing plans are in discussion.
