Manoa VAlley Theatre opens its 2016-17 season in a Hawaii premiere with the musical comedy It Shoulda Been You, by Brian Hargrove & Barbara Anselmi, from the 2015 Broadway season. The Bride is Jewish. The groom is Catholic. Her mother is a force of nature, his mother is a tempest in a cocktail shaker. When the bride's ex-boyfriend shows up, the perfect wedding starts to unravel faster than you can whistle, "Here Comes the Bride!" Plots are hatched, pacts are made, secrets exposed-and the sister of the bride is left to turn a tangled mess into happily ever after!
Guest director of the production is Bree Kale'a Peters. Assistants to the director are Nai'a Aguirre and Polly Miao. Guest musical director is Kip Wilborn. Choreography is by Erin McFadden. The dramaturg is Victoria Gail-White. Set design is by Janine Myers. Sound design is by Toby Carvalho. Projection design is by Brian Shevelenko. Costume design is by Jennifer Hart. Props design is by Sara Ward. Hair and make-up design is by Lisa Ponce de Leon. The rehearsal pianist is Sean Choo. Performing in the show are Andrew Baker, Dusty Behner, Larry Bialock, HoWard Bishop, Callie Doan, Suzanne Green, David Herman, David Heulitt, Virginia Jones, Shari Lynn, Alison Maldonado, Matthew Mazzella and Dennis Proulx. Performing in the band are Anthony Chantavy, Derek Higashi, Jeremy Lawi, Guy Lum (alternate), Elliot Maker and Pavlina Nakalenova.
The production will run September 15 - October 2. Show times are Wed. 7:30p.m., Thur. 7:30 p.m., Fri. 8 p.m., Sat. 8 p.m., and Sun. 4 p.m. Tickets are $39.
