Starting today, June 12, the sounds of some of Hawaii's most popular performers will fill the air for the 2014 Ke Kani O Ke Kai summer concert series at the Waikiki Aquarium, presented by Outrigger Hotels and Resorts. Visitors and residents alike are invited to kick back on the cool, beachfront lawn at the Aquarium for an evening of live entertainment and food under the stars.
"Ke Kani O Ke Kai is a wonderful way to celebrate and experience Hawaiian music and culture," said Bitsy Kelley, vice president, corporate communications of Outrigger Enterprises Group. As in years past, concertgoers will experience an outstanding line-up of stellar live performances under the stars at the Waikiki Aquarium. The concert series kicks off onJune 12 and will run every other Thursday through August 7, 2014. The performers participating in the 2014 Ke Kani O Ke Kai concert series include:
· June 12, 2014 - Ho'okena and Ben Maila (featured restaurant: The Grove)
· June 26, 2014 - HAPA and Cyril Pahinui (featured restaurant: Kani Ka Pila Grille)
· July 10, 2014 - Natalie Ai Kamauu and Mark Yamanaka (featured restaurant: The Grove)
· July 24, 2014 - Weldon Kekauoha and Melveen Leed (featured restaurant: Da Spot)
· August 7, 2014 - Kuana Torres Kahele and Makana (featured restaurant: HASR Bistro)
Ke Kani O Ke Kai concert attendees can also enjoy delicious dishes from selected local restaurants. On June 26, Kani Ka Pila Grille, the open-air restaurant at the Outrigger Reef on the Beach, will provide a mouth-watering menu of local favorites perfectly paired with the sounds of Cyril Pahinui and HAPA. As the home to nightly live island music, Kani Ka Pila Grille showcases some of Hawaii's most legendary musicians, up-and-coming local talent and island artists of international renown every night of the week.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for each Ke Kani O Ke Kai concert, with performances taking place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Concert attendees are welcome to explore the Waikiki Aquarium galleries, which will remain open throughout the evening.
