Fall has arrived but October is heating up with the acts at Blue Note Hawaii. This month includes legendary national artists, some of the biggest local talents around and some great comedy. Local artists include GRAMMY Award-winner Kalani Pe'a, Keauhou in a CD release concert, Willie K, Robert Cazimero, a tribute to Jimi Hendrix by Mike Lewis & Friends, Vibra Cubano, a tribute to Aretha Franklin with Paula Fuga and Tiff and Imua Garza. The Blue Note Hawaii Comedy Series continues this month with Lea DeLaria from the popular Netflix series "Orange is the New Black." National recording artists include master guitarist Tommy Emmanuel, New Orleans musician Davell Crawford featuring Willie K, songwriting legend Burt Bacharach, seminal reggae artists Black Uhuru and indie pop giant Andrew McMahon.

A 15% kama'aina discount is available to residents for most shows. This is available online with code MAHALO15, as well as in person at the box office. Parking is validated at the OHANA East Hotel for $6 for four hours, and at the Outrigger Waikiki for $15 for four hours valet.

Kalani Pe'a

Kalani Pe?a released his debut album featuring seven haku mele (Hawaiian original music compositions) and five of his favorite covers. Pe?a was determined in perpetuating Hawaiian language through music and visual arts as he created his debut album titled "E Walea," which won the 2017 GRAMMY Award for "Best Regional Roots Music Album."

Tribute to Jimi Hendrix by Mike Lewis & Friends

October 2

Native New Yorker and trumpeter Mike Lewis presents a tribute to Jimi Hendrix. One of the most influential guitarists ever, Hendrix began playing as a teenager after his father bought him an electric guitar for his 17th birthday. After being honorably discharged from the army Jimi began session musician work Little Richard, B.B. King, Sam Cooke and the Isley Brothers. He would soon form the Jimi Hendrix Experience wowing audiences with his unbelievable musicianship.

Keauhou CD Release Concert

Comprised of Kahanuola Solatorio and brothers Nicholas and Zachary Lum, Keauhou strives to bring forth inspiration from Hawaiian music of the eras preceding them, and contribute to a renewed respect and interest for the incomparable beauty of traditional Hawaiian music. The trio recently swept Hawaii's Na Hoku Hanohano Awards in May of 2017, winning 9 awards, including Hawaiian Music Album of the Year. This special CD release concert features fellow 2017 Na Hoku award-winners Raiatea Helm and Josh Tatofi.

Tommy Emmanuel

A master technician, guitarist Tommy Emmanuel rose through the ranks as a studio player and member of several Australian rock bands before he set off on a solo career. A noted finger style guitarist, Emmanuel frequently threads three different parts simultaneously into his material, operating as a one-man band who handles the melody, the supporting chords and the bass all at once.

Davell Crawford with special guest Willie K

Davell Crawford, an all-around musical sensation, is one of the true wonders of the contemporary Crescent City music scene. He emerged as a teenage piano terror and began to unfold his incredible talent before the world, and has since enjoyed a widely acclaimed career as an entertainer. He will be joined by local legend Willie K for this once in a lifetime experience.

The Hawaiian phenomenon Willie K is undoubtedly the only artist in the world who can go into an Irish pub in the middle of Maui and play anything from indigenous acoustic Hawaiian music to jazz, reggae, rock, country and even opera-and leave everyone within earshot slack-jawed in astonishment.

Robert Cazimero & Friends

October 11

In the 1970's, Robert Cazimero was instrumental in the resurgence of Hawaiian music and culture. That resurgence began a career that almost thirty years later is stronger than ever. Musician, composer, kumu hula; his work in all of these areas is well-known throughout the world. Robert's unique Blue Note Hawaii sets will feature jazz standards as well as traditional Hawaiian music.

Burt Bacharach

October 12 - 15

Doors: 6pm
Combining elements of jazz, pop, Brazilian music and rock, Burt Bacharach created a unique new sound that embodied the time. In the '60s and '70s, he was a dominant figure in pop music, racking up a remarkable 52 Top 40 hits as one of the most accomplished popular composers of the 20th Century. Burt will appear at Blue Note Hawaii with a 12-piece band including two singers.

Vibra Cubana: The Music of Cal Tjader and Arthur Lyman

October 17

Thomas Mackay presents Vibra Cubana, performing the music of Cal Tjader and Arthur Lyman! Cal Tjader was a GRAMMY Award-winning vibist and drummer whose jazz style, known as "cool" jazz, incorporated Latin, Asian and Afro-Cuban elements. Arthur Lyman was a vibist and marimba player, born and raised in Hawaii.

Island 98.5 Presents Black Uhuru

October 19

Black Uhuru are a Jamaican reggae group formed in the Waterhouse district of Kingston Jamaica in 1972. Over the years, despite several lineup changes, Black Uhuru has released many successful albums and remained one of the most important reggae artists in the world. This show is presented in partnership with Island 98.5. Current vocalists: Duckie Simpson, Andrew Bees, and Kay Starr

Blue Note Comedy Series presents Lea DeLaria

Celebrate Pride Weekend with Lea DeLaria! Lea seems to have achieved overnight stardom with her two time, SAG Award winning, stand-out role as "Carrie 'Big Boo' Black" in the Netflix hit series "Orange is the New Black." However, DeLaria's multi- faceted career as a comedian, actress and jazz musician, has in fact, spanned decades.

Praised for her originality in song composition and ability to stir the deepest emotions with spellbinding and soulful vocals, Paula Fuga has established herself as one of Hawai'i's most respected live performers. Paula pays tribute to the first lady of soul Aretha Franklin with Mike Lewis and friends.

Imua & Tiffa Garza

October 23

Tiffa Garza is the daughter of country musician Ernie Cruz, Sr., coming from a musical family including older brothers John Cruz and Ernie Cruz Jr., two of Hawaii's most beloved musicians. Imua Garza is a producer, recording engineer and composer appearing on over four dozen albums. Imua has traveled the world playing for ecstatic audiences.

Andrew McMahon In the Wilderness Acoustic

October 28

Andrew McMahon, of Something Corporate and Jack's Mannequin fame, has reinvented himself with the Indie-pop project Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness. Most recently, he completed a massive summer tour across North America with Weezer and Panic! At The Disco. This show is presented in partnership with BAMP Project and Star 101.9.
