This year's Summer Drama Adventure for children ages 7 - 9 is themed, "Beyond the Point." Kids are invited to jump into an epic journey with a brave young character and his trusty side-kick. They'll travel to curious places with wondrous creatures, all through the power of their imagination. With the Summer Drama Adventure crew, kids will unlock their creativity as they embark on a dramatic journey to develop an original performance of this fantastical tale. Play to create, and create a play with HTY!
The 'Tween Scene for children ages 10 - 13 lets tweens "Create Your Journey." Tweens will be their own storytellers on an imaginative journey to discover their creative selves! Assistant Director of Drama Education Lily Brennick says, "Tween Scene is about you, what you want to do, what you have to say, what you want to create... It's all up to you." Participants will act out the characters to perform a fantastic story of excitement and discovery, making great friends along the way and taking their audience on a journey only they can imagine!
At both the Summer Drama Adventure and the Tween Scene, daily sessions are filled with dramatic adventure-movement, theatre games and creative exploration. Working with HTY professional artists and actors, students will develop their skills as performers and artists while strengthening team-building and creative problem solving and skills. Through these theatre programs, students will discover creative ways to perform original stories on the HTY Tenney Theatre stage.
