Music lovers rejoice! "Taste of the Symphony" - a flavorful sampling of music from the Hawai'i Symphony Orchestra's (HSO) 2016-2017 Halekulani Masterworks Season - returns tonight at 7:30 pm. Led by Maestro Gerard Schwarz, "Taste of the Symphony" is a preview concert that takes place during the Honolulu Farmers' Market. Tickets are only $5 and will be available at the door of the Blaisdell Concert Hall beginning at 5:00 pm.

At "Taste of the Symphony," Maestro Schwarz will lead the HSO in a 75-minute program that takes concertgoers on a musical journey through the upcoming season, offering "small bites" of select programs. Giveaways and activities will add zest and spice to the event, which previews the beautiful music to-be-enjoyed this season. The community is encouraged to come out for The Farmers' Market and join in the fun. All ages are welcome!

WHEN: Wednesday, September 28

TIME: 7:30PM

WHERE: BLAISDELL CONCERT HALL

The HSO's 2016-2017 season opens with "Tao Rachs!" on Saturday, October 1 and Sunday, October 2, and features the return of pianist Conrad Tao, who made his HSO debut when he was 19, in performance of Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. Led by Maestro Schwarz, the concert also showcases Brahms' Symphony No. 3 and Liszt's Les préludes. The "Tao Rachs!" program will surprise concertgoers by reminding everyone of the pleasure that can be garnered from such masterpieces. While this music can be appreciated on a recording, there is nothing that can replace a live concert. Tickets range from $34 to $92 and are on sale now at hawaiisymphonyorchestra.org or by calling 94-MUSIC (946-8742).
