The Hawaii Symphony Orchestra will travel to Pearl City and entertain audiences of all ages with concert that brings light, dance, and sweetness to the stage. This will be the Orchestra's first performance in Pearl City's jewel of a venue, the Pearl City Cultural Center at the very top of Waimano Road.
Maestro Naoto Otomo will lead the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra and the audience through a frolicking program that is sure to keep toes tapping in the intimate venue. From Ravel's Mother Goose Suite to Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro Overture, the concert is filled with charm and comforting melodies. Bizet's Carmen Suite is familiar and exciting, sheer pleasure for those who are both familiar and new to classical music.
This concert is the third and final free community concert of the 2016-17 season, it is presented as part of the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra's Community Outreach & Education program. Thousands of students have accessed concerts and instructive performances by ensembles at schools this season. The Symphony in Pearl City Concert is the grand finale to a highly successful community engagement campaign. The concert and the Community Outreach & Education program is made possible by funding from the City & County of Honolulu, The Atherton Family Foundation, The Cades Foundation, the Arthur & Mae Orvis Foundation, Neiman Marcus Foundation, and the Central Pacific Bank Foundation.

Maestro Naoto Otomo
Creating new music scenes in which classical and music from other genres collaborate, Otomo does not shy away from stage productions that stray from established genres and forms of expression; he is truly an innovative music producer.
In recent years, Otomo has also been actively involved in education, and his contributions include the organization of the international music seminar "Music Masters Course Japan" alongside fellow conductor Alan Gilbert.
He is also conducting the HSO's Halekulani Masterworks Season Finale Concerts on June 10 & 11 at the Blaisdell Concert Hall with guest pianist, André Watts.

The new HSO carries on the legacy of the Honolulu Symphony, which was founded in 1900 and performed for more than a century.
