HTY And Hawaii Opera Theatre Hold Auditions For 'AMAHL AND THE NIGHT VISITORS 6/12

Honolulu Theatre for Youth and Hawaii Opera Theatre are seeking four adult singers and one child singer (with a flexible schedule that allows for daytime performances) for their production of Amahl and the Night Visitors. Musical preparation and staging will happen in October-November followed by three weeks of weekday and weekend performances to both school and public audiences.

HTY Artistic Director Eric Johnson and HOT Musical Director Beebe Freitas will hold auditions Friday, June 12 from 4-8 p.m. at the historic Tenney Theatre on the grounds of St. Andrew's Cathedral in downtown Honolulu, corner of Queen Emma and Beretania Streets.

Singers should bring two vocal selections in English, with sheet music. A pianist will be provided. All sheet music must be written in the key in which it will be sung. Selections from Amahl are encouraged but not required.

Singing Roles to be auditioned:

AMAHL: child (male or female) age 8 - 12. Soprano.
HIS MOTHER: Soprano or Mezzo-Soprano.
KING KASPAR: Tenor.
KING MELCHIOR: Baritone.
KING BALTHAZAR: Bass/Bass-Baritone.

Callbacks are by invitation only and will be held at Tenney Theatre on Saturday, June 13 from 10 a.m. - noon.
