THE OTHER PLACE at Nationaltheater Mannheim

THE other place, this is the place on the Juliana Smithon, neurologist and Wissen­schaftlerin, lived for many years with her husband Ian, an oncologist, and her daughter Laurel. But now their lives from the Fu­Gen device: you feared to be suffering from a brain tumor. Scenes from their current lives with Ian mix themselves with the past and recurring memories of a Congress in St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands, where she should give a lecture on a new entwickel­tes drug. During her lecture, a young woman in a yellow bikini caught their attention. Among all the other suit vehicles she stood out strangely. In this intelligently constructed piece Sharr White takes the audience on a quest after the mysterious give in a yellow bikini--only in the last scene, you get the key to fate of Juliana... What is reality and what head only in Juliana? Slowly unravelled their secret: distorted truth and Bruch­stückhafte memories collide in a Beach House on the windswept coast of Cape Cod.

Sharr White grew up in Orange County, Kali­fornien. He wrote among other things the following pieces: sunlight, six years and most recently Annapurna. THE other place was developed at the Lark play development center in New York and had world premiere in March 2011 off­-Broadway at the MCC Theater in New York. 2006 Sharr White New York received the Skye Cooper new foun­dation for the arts scholarship, 2009 American play Prize for sunlight and 2010 the playwrights first award for the other place.
