pure: clean, clear, unalterated. Together with the dancers of the ensemble, Dominique Dumais fathoms these qualities in dance and with it continues the investigations of movement started in the piece R.A.W. from the 2012/2013 season. Within the piece, the cooperation between performer and choreographer is at the center of attention. Using the cooperation and trust often established over many years as a starting point, a rehearsal and creation process is developed based on mutual and joint experimentation and concentrated examination between intensity and surprise.
In dance pieces such as Frida Kahlo, Der kleine Prinz (The Little Prince) and Tracing Isadora, Dominique Dumais has created many impressive solos for the performers of the ensemble. She gets involved in the body language and expressive powers of each, individual performer, and utilizes it as a challenge, an opportunity, and a chance for her own works of choreography.
The live improvisations of the musicians on the stage create for her a suitably convenient framework for the development of an intense dance theater language: pure and direct relationships between music and dance, between bodies, between motion and space, between performers and the audience.
PURE is dedicated to dance itself and continues further the work process Dominique Dumais started with R.A.W. and which will lead into a trilogy.
