Today, August 28 and Friday, August 29, Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre will perform a new work, "Off the Top of My Head," at the Kunstakademie as part of the internationale tanzmesse in Düsseldorf, Germany. Heidi Duckler, along with staff and company members, began traveling to Germany last week, and are currently in rehearsals for the event. The piece will be performed this Thursday and Friday as part of 23 programs presented by 38 international companies. Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre is one of only three American companies performing.
"Off the Top of My Head" will animate the top floor and roof of the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf's with a humanistic touch. Following a couple's journey from the interior hallway to the exterior space, Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre's piece will integrate the architectural elements of the historical space, complexity of identity, and
relationship between the two dancers into a choreographic journey from the interior hallway to the exterior terrace. Against the backdrop of the glimmering Rhein and Düsseldorf skyline, the audience will begin
lined against the wall of the long space, then travel with the dancers down the narrow enclave above the city. Drawing upon the visual art focus of the Kunstakademie, the internationale tanzmesse's platform for communication and networking, and Heidi Duckler's near 30 years of creative placemaking, "Off the Top of My Head" will invigorate this educational space with movement and music.
