HAMILTON is Heading to Hamburg in 2020 Image

Hamilton is taking the world by storm, one country at a time. Next stop: Germany!

With German-language productions of Pretty Woman, Tina, and Cirque du Soleil's Paramour headed to Hamburg soon, it appears that Hamilton is next on the list.

According to Forbes, the hit musical is headed for Hamburg in Fall 2020. The show will be performed in German.

"Hamburg is the Broadway of Germany, arguably of Europe, because so many people go there to see shows," said Ron Kollen, senior vice president for international productions at Disney Theatrical Group.

"[T]here are plenty of high-quality international productions which we regrettably have to decline showing over here," said Stephan Jaekel, a spokesman for Stage Entertainment. "Sometimes the subject matter of the book lacks relevance for Germans, sometimes the score uses musical patterns too far away from what we are used to, sometimes the title just leaves German audiences bewildered, and most of the times it's a mixture of all."

How will Hamilton fare in Hamburg? We'll just have to Wait For It!

HAMILTON is the story of America's Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington's right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and was the new nation's first Treasury Secretary. Featuring a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B, and Broadway, Hamilton is the story of America then, as told by America now.

The musical features Tony Award-winning book, music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, direction by Thomas Kail, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and musical supervision and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire, Hamilton is based on Ron Chernow's BIOGRAPHY of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton.
