TheatreZone Artistic Director Mark Danni today unveiled the cast for the Equity professional theatre group's production of Chess - The Musical to be performed March 6 through March 16, 2014.
"Joining internationally renowned tenor Michael Amante who has been cast as The American (Freddie Trumper), are returning TheatreZone fan favorites Broadway actor Larry Alexander in the role of The Russian challenger (Anatoly Sergievsky) with stage actress Sue Nock cast as Freddie's second, the Hungarian-born, English-raised Florence Vassy," reports artistic director and TheatreZone founder Mark Danni.
Alexander Molokov, Anatoly's second (and a KGB agent) will be played by Bruce Rebold with Karen Molnar cast as Svetlana, the Russian's estranged wife; Gerritt VanderMeer as Walter, Freddie's PR guy (and clearly a CIA agent); Greg Jensen as The Arbiter, the president of the International Chess Association; Dan Lamey as Gregor, Cecilia Nakfor as the Young Florence with Dana Cohen and Laura Needle in the Ensemble.
Chess will be directed by Mark Danni with choreography by Karen Molnar; Michael Horsley will music direct. The production crew includes lighting designer Anne Carncross, stage manager Danielle Ranno, set designer Chris Rich, sound designer Tim Frank and costumer Kathleen Kolacz.
Operating under the guidelines of the Actors' Equity Association and small professional theatres contracts, TheatreZone is in residence and performs in the intimate 250-seat G&L Theatre housed on the magnificent campus of The Community School of Naples, one block north of Pine Ridge Road at 13275 Livingston Road.
TheatreZone Season 9 concludes with Forever Plaid, May 1 through May 11, 2014. Individual seats cost $43 - $48 plus a $2 per ticket fee.
