Classes will be held at Naples Performing Arts Center, Fleishmann Park Community Center and Golden Gate Community Center, giving students from all around Collier County the opportunity to take classes in a convenient location. The nine classes being offered will include something for every student from K-12 and serve as an excellent way to learn while having fun and prepare for the summer opportunities ahead.
"I am very excited to be able to offer classes to a wide range of students in the coming months," says Leah Shaeffer, Gulfshore Playhouse's Director of Education. "I have high hopes that our STAR Academy theatre classes will be able to reach students all over the Naples area, exposing the children in our community to the magic of theatre," she says.
At Fleischmann Park Community Center, Gulfshore Playhouse Education will offer classes for students in grades K-8, with two classes for each age group.
For students in grades K-2:
o Wild About Theatre! beginning in early January
o Imagination Station beginning in late March
For students in grades 3-5:
o STAR in the Spotlight beginning in early January
o STAR in a Show! beginning in late March
For students in grades 6-8:
o Acting Essentials beginning in early January
o Advanced Acting beginning in late March
At Golden Gate Community Center, Gulfshore Playhouse Education will offer Beginning Acting for students in grades 3-5 and Intermediate Acting for students in grades 6-8, in three sessions: the first starting in early January, the second in mid-February, and the third in late March. Students may take as few or as many sessions of the class as they would like to build upon their acting skills.
At Naples Performing Arts Center, Gulfshore Playhouse Education will offer Fundamentals of Playwriting for students in grades 6-12. This unique class will focus on writers learning to write for the stage and will begin in mid-February.
Gulfshore Playhouse Education serves Southwest Florida through a wide variety of unique educational opportunities. The Playhouse's educational programming provides people from the diverse community accessibility to the art of theatre. Program offerings for youth grades pre-K to 12 range from STAR (Student Theatre Artist in Residence) theatre classes, summer camps, and productions to ThinkTheatre in-school and classroom programs. Gulfshore Playhouse also provides a variety of educational opportunities for adults, from Synergy Series audience enrichment programs to professional internships.
