Gulfshore will remount the one-man version of Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol by Tom Mula, playing December 6 through 21, 2014, with preview performances on December 4th and 5th.
Jacob Marley passes through hell on his way to redemption in a riveting piece of art that will appeal to all, regardless of race, creed or nationality. This theatrical tour de force brought dazzlingly to life by Cody Nickell will move you in unexpected ways. It is a marvel to behold, as this production leaves everything and nothing to the imagination.
Throughout the run of the production, Gulfshore Playhouse will be collecting socks and school supplies during their "Stockings and Stocking Stuffers" drive. To donate to the drive, please bring socks or school supplies to one of the performances of Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol. Donations may be dropped off at The Norris Center during performances or Gulfshore Playhouse's Administrative Offices at 1010 5th Avenue South, Suite 205 in Naples during business hours: Monday through Friday, 9am to 6pm. Gulfshore Playhouse is partnering with The Immokalee Foundation to bring all that is collected in the drive to students in need living in Immokalee.
The production's 2013 run received rave reviews with Nancy Stetson of Florida Weekly saying: "Mr. Nickell delivers a virtuoso performance, giving each character a distinct voice and personality. He even, somehow, manages to appear to change shape and size," and Chris Silk of the Naples Daily News called the staging "[Kristen] Coury's greatest feat yet."
Founder and Producing Artistic Director Kristen Coury will direct the production. "This is one of my favorite plays I've ever directed. It is a beautiful work of art and Cody Nickell is truly magnificent in this play, delivering a tour de force performance in what will be his last time on Gulfshore Playhouse's stage for the foreseeable future," states Coury.
All roles will be played by Gulfshore Playhouse's Artistic Associate, Cody Nickell. Cody has appeared on the Gulfshore Playhouse stage numerous times, including the productions of The Game's Afoot, The Whipping Man, 'Art', and Blithe Spirit. Cody also directed Gulfshore Playhouse's productions of Body Awareness, The Mountaintop, Something Intangible and God of Carnage. Cody's other theatre credits include: The Taming of the Shrew (Helen Hayes Nomination), Arcadia (Helen Hayes Nomination), The School for Scandal, Macbeth; Woolly Mammoth: Clybourne Park (Helen Hayes Nomination), In the Next Room, or The Vibrator Play. A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University's School of Drama, Cody is a three-time Helen Hayes Award nominee and the winner of The Connecticut Critics' Circle Award.
