Kristen Coury cannot wait to Nick Duckart and Kelley Curran in Gulfshore Playhouse's " src="https://cloudimages.broadwayworld.com/columnpic6/2F30C8230-F7CE-0000-121AB91B77D1DB5B.jpg" align="left" style="float:left; margin-right:10px; width:300px" /> find out what Neapolitans think about the Gulfshore Playhouse season opener "Venus in Fur."
"Venus in Fur?" Wasn't that a Lou Reed song? No.
Lou Reed wrote "Venus in Furs." The David Ives play "Venus in Fur" tells of an actress who turns the tables on a playwright during an audition. Vanda conquers Thomas while wearing stilettos, leather shorts and wrestling on a chaise lounge. The whole time, they're acting out scenes from an 1870 piece of literature written by Leopold von Sacher-Masoch. That's where we get "sadomasochism."
"It's hot. It's steamy," Coury said. But not explicit. Vanda and Thomas don't even kiss.
Coury won't have long to wait for feedback. Residents can find out for the price of a cheeseburger and fries - or less - at the pay-what-you-can preview at 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 2.
