Gulfshore Playhouse announces their First Annual New Works Festival August 12 - 18, 2013, with three public readings on August 16 and 17. Gulfshore Playhouse will also present the hot new Broadway hit Venus in Fur by David Ives October 4 through 12, with two preview performances on October 2 and 3.

Gulfshore Playhouse's First Annual New Works Festival is an exciting new addition to their programming! Bringing together three playwrights and a team of actors and directors, this week-long festival will offer a place for each of the playwrights to hone their plays and then present their work to an audience.

Gulfshore Playhouse announces a call for submissions from playwrights and agents for consideration. The Festival will take place during one week, with rehearsal and writing time, culminating in three public readings, Friday August 16 at 8:00 p.m., and Saturday August 17 at 3:00 and 8:00 p.m. at The Norris Center. Tickets for these productions are one play for $15, two plays for $25 and all three plays for $35. The Playhouse will pick three writers who will be invited to come to Naples and participate in The Festival. Authors interested should submit digital copies of plays that have not had a full production to submissions@gulfshoreplayhouse.org. Submitters will receive a confirmation for receipt of play, but no further contact will follow unless The Playhouse invites you to participate. Gulfshore Playhouse will announce selected playwrights June 1st.

"We are committed to fostering the growth of new works and supporting emerging playwrights. This New Works Festival is evidence of our deepening commitment to the growth of American Theatre," says Kristen Coury, Founder and Producing Artistic Director.

Venus in Fur by David Ives will be performing October 4 through 12, with two previews October 2 and 3. David Ives' new provocative comedy is sure to leave you breathless! Very late and seemingly clueless, she convinces Thomas to give her a shot to audition for him. What follows is an intelligent and hilarious show that explores the lines between fantasy and reality, seduction and power, love and sex and lust. This one is definitely not to be missed. 2013 - 2014 subscribers will receive a 10% discount on tickets to Venus in Fur.
