Florida Repertory Theatre has announced the opening of Murder at the Howard Johnson's by Ron Clark and Sam Bobrick. This deliriously funny suspense comedy follows three hapless lovers as they try unsuccessfully to off one another in the most ridiculous ways.
Murder at the Howard Johnson's plays in the Arcade Theatre Dec. 5-21, with four nearly sold-out previews Dec. 2-4.
"At Florida Rep, we pride ourselves on producing a wide variety of plays," said Producing Artistic Director, Robert Cacioppo, "and this fall is the perfect example. We opened our season with a brand-new Tony-winning comedy, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, followed it up with the beautifully moving Off-Broadway drama, Tribes, and now we're pleased to be producing a comedy for comedy's sake. a fantastic cast of Florida Rep alums,
Kim Ostrenko, ensemble member
Brendan Powers, and
Graham Smith starring as the trio of amusingly nutty would-be murderers. Miami actress,
Kim Ostrenko, most recently appeared as, Masha in this year's season opener Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. Powers has been a Florida Rep ensemble member since 2008 and has appeared in The Fantasticks, Doubt, Boeing-Boeing and many others. Smith made his Florida Rep debut as Hendry Ford in Camping with Henry and Tom, and was also seen as Vanya in this season's opener, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike.
Florida Rep Founder and Producing Artistic Director, Robert Cacioppo (Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike; Clybourne Park) directs the production, and is joined by an expert team of designers including set designer,
Jim Hunter (August: Osage County), lighting designer,
Kate Smith (Tribes), resident costume designer, Roberta Malcolm (Heart Song), sound designer, John Kiselica (Tribes), and production stage manager, Audrey M. Brown (My Three Angels).
