Today's Tallahassee Democrat reports that Mark Haddon's critically acclaimed 2003 novel, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, has been pulled as a summer reading assignment from a Florida high school after parents voiced objections to the book's language and the expressed skepticism about the existence of God.

Adapted into the 2015 Tony Award winning Best Play by Simon Stephens, Curious Incident is told through the voice of a 15-year-old math genius with Asperger's Syndrome.

The Florida newspaper reports that Lincoln High School Principal Allen Burch defended the decision, allowing for "the opportunity for the parents to parent." Other parents have reacted with claims of censorship.
