As the snowbirds migrate north, the season winds down at Center for the Performing Arts in Bonita Springs, but Frankly Funny Fridays final two shows of the year promise to go out with a bang.
Host Frank Blocker (Southern Gothic Novel, Deep Throat Sex Scandal), along with co-stars Melissa Hennig and Don Fox will be joined by Naples' favorite Dan Lamey (Man of La Mancha, Doubt), for parady songs, improvisational sketches, and even a live game show developed by Fox, spoofing Flip This House. Other sketches include "Arnold Schwarzenegger's Solstice Day Egg Hunt...and Lift"-Hennig reprises her role.
Since the shows inception last October, music has become an integral part of the production. Local favorite Chuck Jobes has been providing accompaniment and lyrics, and he will appear in person at the final raucous show in May.
The closing act of Fridays is always the improvisational sketch CPI: Celebrity Placement Interview, where the audience gets to interview retiring and/or failing, celebrities for a new job. This month's guests are retired Obama, retiring Queen Elizabeth, and on-the-skids Steve Bannon. What could possibly go wrong?
Fridays is a creation of Blocker's in conjunction with the Center for the Arts Bonita Springs. Each month includes guest stars and local talent such as Marina Miller, Marilu Holmes, Laura Schueneman and teens from the Center's "Mission Improv-Able," including Janelle Ferraro, Randy Rankin and Nicole Flynn.
FRANKLY FUNNY FRIDAYS performs Friday, April 14 at 8:00pm, and May 19 at 8:00pm, at Center for Performing Arts Bonita Springs, Moe Auditorium and Film Center, 10150 Bonita Beach Road. Tickets are $15. Tickets can be purchased at the Center's website or by calling 239-495-8989.
