Broadway Vets to Lead TheatreZone's THE BOY FROM OZ

The Boy from Oz is "a musical true story" of the late entertainer Peter Allen who was a protégé of Judy Garland, and briefly married to her daughter Liza Minnelli.

Set in bars, nightclubs and concerts across the globe, including Peter Allen's homeland of Australia, The Boy From Oz spans the singer-songwriter's life and career. Martin Sherman (Bent) provides the libretto for the score which features the music and lyrics of the pop superstar. Nick Enright is credited with the original book.

The Tony-award winning musical performs at TheatreZone on Thursday, February 4 until Sunday, February 14 featuring a cast of Broadway veterans in the lead roles of Peter Allen, Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli.

The cast features TheatreZone fan favorite and Brodway veteran Larry Alexander (as Peter Allen); vocalist Joan Ellison (as Allen's mentor and mother-in-law, Judy Garland), Carolann Sanita (as Liza Minnelli), Danette Cuming (as mother Marian Woolnough), Christoff Marse (as boyfriend Greg Connell), Harry Crater (as the young Peter) and Wayne Morton (as father, Dick Woolnough and manager-promoter Dee Anthony).

Mark Danni directs this Broadway musical with choreography by Karen Molnar. Michael Raabe serves as music director.

The ensemble will feature Brent Kuenning, Josh Kolb, Dana Cohen, Ashley Rubin, Alana Ferraro and Rachael Switzer.

Upcoming TheatreZone Season 11 productions include Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods, March 3 - 13, and Dames at Sea, April 28 - May 8, 2016. Individual tickets cost $48 - $53 plus a $2 per ticket fee.
