Broadway Palm kicked off their 26th season with LET'S GO TO THE MOVIES, a hilarious and fun musical parody, which was created, written, directed, and choreographed by Victor Legarreta. The show featured an incredibly wide range of movie scenes and musical numbers, from classic movies to more modern movie musicals, and it even put a creative spin on many movies that are not musicals.
The cast of LET'S GO TO THE MOVIES included Sarah Cammarata, Erica Clare, Chris Duir, Kira Galindo, Chasdan Ross Mike, and Chris Trimboli. I really cannot praise this cast enough. Each one of them is incredibly strong vocally, and they all kept up a high level of energy throughout the whole show, which had many different scenes and quite a bit of dancing. They all had great chemistry as a group as well, which made the show even better.
The first act of LET'S GO TO THE MOVIES showcased Classic Hollywood, with songs from movies like Singin' in the Rain and The Wizard of Oz. The second act had two scenes: Imagination and Movie Musicals. Imagination included some well-known songs from Disney movies, as well as a few new musical numbers from unexpected movies, such as Jaws and Star Wars. The Movie Musicals section of the show was brilliant; though there were many iconic, much-loved movie musicals and scenes included, there was a funny, memorable twist to many of them. Chris Duir's performance of "Tomorrow" from ANNIE was definitely a standout, as well as Chris Trimboli's "Climb Every Mountain" from THE SOUND OF MUSIC. The show also featured many iconic celebrities and films, through both musical tributes and video montages.
Victor Legarreta has done an excellent job of creating a perfect show to begin this Broadway Palm season with. Almost every show of their 26th season is a stage adaptation of a movie, and if LET'S GO TO THE MOVIES is any indication of the rest of the season, it is bound to be a great one.
If you happened to miss Broadway Palm's 25th season, I highly recommend you make a point to see a show during their 26th. The renovation updates they made with their flooring and tables and chairs last year have made it an even nicer experience, and they definitely give Broadway Palm a fresh, more modern feel. If you did see a show at Broadway Palm last season, I promise you'll want to come back to experience the fun lineup of productions their 26th season has to offer; get your tickets now!
