An eclectic season of great Broadway musicals will roll out at the Phil in 2012-13, including the Southwest Florida premiere of 10-time Tony Award-winner Billy Elliot. Other shows making their regional debuts include Sister Act, Dreamgirls and the Tony Award-winning revival of Anything Goes.
The season will also feature the Broadway classic A Chorus Line and the international sensation Tap Dogs.
“Our community has shown that it enjoys and supports a wide variety of Broadway entertainment and these shows reflect that,” said Philharmonic Center CEO and President Kathleen van Bergen. “We are coming off of our most successful Broadway season ever – and look forward to building on that with these wonderful selections.”

Billy Elliot.The 10-time Tony Award-winning hit musical makes its first Southwest Florida appearances! Billy Elliot is the joyous celebration of one boy’s journey to make his dreams comes true. Set in a small town, the story follows Billy as he stumbles out of the boxing ring and into a ballet class – discovering a surprising talent that inspires his family and his whole community, and changes his life forever. Featuring music by Elton John. Tuesday-Sunday, February 19-24, 2013.
Sister Act. Nominated for five Tony Awards, Sister Act is Broadway’s feel-amazing musical comedy smash. The New York Post called Sister Act “ridiculously fun,” and audiences are jumping to their feet in agreement. Sister Act tells the story of a wannabe diva whose life takes a surprising turn when she witnesses a crime and the cops hide her in the last place anyone would think to look – a convent! A sparkling tribute to the universal power of friendship, Sister Act is reason to rejoice. With music from eight-time Academy Award-winner Alan Menken. Tuesday-Sunday, January 1-6, 2013.
Anything Goes. All aboard for the Roundabout Theatre Company’s saucy and splendid new production of Anything Goes, winner of three 2011 Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival and Choreography! Peppering this first-class Cole Porter comedy are some of musical theater’s most memorable standards, including I Get a Kick Out of You, You’re the Top and, of course, Anything Goes. Dreamgirls. Full of onstage joy and backstage drama, Dreamgirls tells the story of an up-and-coming 1960s singing girl group, and the triumphs and tribulations that come with fame and fortune. Tap Dogs. The international sensation Tap Dogs is back! Created by Olivier Award-winning choreographer Dein Perry, Tap Dogs is rough, tough, rocking theatrical entertainment.
