The album "Bullets and Chocolate" is dedicated to the Day of the Dead reflecting how Mexicans, and some Latin Americans conceived the starting of the underworld with grace, joy, folklore, even mischievously. Freedom, tradition, Justice, Equality, Love, Passion, Truth (with a capital) are the branches that connect to the death, central theme of this album and are magnificently portrayed by Lila Downs.
"The music on this album celebrates the dead as is the tradition: they dance, they sing, is taken, it is provided with the deceased. a bolero, a northern, a cumbia, hip hop and ska is sung and as a result we have a danceable, melancholic and joyful drive as well as is the custom of mourn and celebrate at the same time, because the Mexicans have the tradition of writing verses on death laughing and enjoying ... "
