A NEST, WHAT FOR?
THE COURT OF THE ACCURSED KING
Why, and most importantly, how do you make a nest amongst people who are dispossessed of a power they have exercised for too long...
"Royal court in exile in the mountains seeks image consultant, fully equipped room in atypical chalet, artists please abstain." This is the message in a bottle sent by a King on the wane, which announces A Nest, What For by Olivier Cadiot, brought to the stage by Ludovic Lagarde and the artistic collective of the Comédie de Reims.
This a message to which Robinson replies. A recurring character in Olivier Cadiot's novels, he will be our guide in this poetic parable on power. We find ourselves immersed in a strange court, where a king without a kingdom in his makeshift castle is torn between respect of traditions and contemporary practices. Robinson, the narrator, at first confused and withdrawn in silence, gradually finds his place in this strange community. He is searching for a nest, but instead he finds a delirious principality, gripped by debauchery and tyranny, and where power flirts with communication.
Performances run from October 19 - October 23. For more information, visit http://www.theatredelaville-paris.com/spectacle-unnidpourquoifaire-238.
