Currently in its second season of entirely sold-out performances, Broadway au Carré has definitely become the hottest ticket in Paris to get your American musical theatre fix, along with a good glass of red wine.

Every first Wednesday of the month, you can kick off your evening at Le Carré Parisien, a typical Parisian café and cave-à-vins, with a cabaret concert by a featured performer, followed by an open mic, where some of the best local artists gather to belt out their favorite Broadway show tunes. Broadway au Carré also features a new musical theatre composer each month, with a set of songs that have never been performed in Europe before. "Our American Composers, European Premieres set," says Lisandro Nesis, Broadway au Carré's artistic director and open mic host, "is the result of the artistic exchange program we started last year to strengthen the bonds between American composers and French-based musical theatre performers. This initiative has gathered a lot of support from the musical theatre community on both sides of the Atlantic. It allows composers to have their music heard in Europe and have more visibility here, as well as give local performers an opportunity to work directly with the featured composers for the preparation of the set. It also gives the French audience a chance to discover new composers and new songs every month. It's a win-win!" In the context of last season's "American Composers, European Premieres", the Parisian musical theatre lovers have discovered the wonderful music of Will Van Dyke, Scott Burkell & Paul Loesel, Niko Tsakalakos, Daniel Mate, Andrew Byrne and Peter Saxe, among others, and this season Broadway au Carré will feature many new exciting songwriters!

Wednesday, October 1st is the date to remember if you want to come to Broadway au Carré's next show. This month the evening will start with "Brother & Sister", a new cabaret featuring Swiss performers Aude Gilliéron (Sister Act, LES MISERABLES) and her brother Vincent Gilliéron (Edges, Alice), with musical direction by Raphaël Sanchez (The Lion King, Avenue Q, Spamalot...). The second part of the evening will include the "American Composers, European Premieres" set and an American musical theatre open mic, both accompanied by David Jackson and co-hosted by Lisandro Nesis and Chanel Karimkhani. The featured composer of the month will be Drew Gasparini (Make me bad, Crazy just like me...), whose songs will be performed by Marie Oppert, Lauren Berkman, Lisandro Nesis, Mathieu Becquerelle and Vincent Gilliéron.

Broadway au Carré takes place the first Wednesday evening of each month at Le Carré Parisien located at 1, rue du Général Beuret, 75015 Paris, France. Doors open at 7 pm, showtime at 7:30 pm followed by an Open Mic at 9 pm. 10€ / 8€ (students) cover charge includes a drink. Reservations required at reservationscarreparisien@gmail.com.
