Marie Oppert and composers Ewalt and Walker featured at Broadway au Carré in Paris on November 5th.
Currently in its second season of entirely sold-out performances, Broadway au Carré has definitely become the hottest ticket in Paris to get your American musical theatre fix, along with a good glass of red wine.
Every first Wednesday of the month, you can kick off your evening at Le Carré Parisien, a typical Parisian café and cave-à-vins, with a cabaret concert by a featured performer, followed by an open mic, where some of the best local artists gather to belt out their favorite Broadway show tunes. Broadway au Carré also features a new musical theatre songwriter each month in the "American Composers, European Premieres" set, which has become the most important artistic exchange platform between New York and Paris in the domain of contemporary musical theatre.
Wednesday, November 5th is the date to remember if you want to come to Broadway au Carré's next show. This month the evening will start with "All Grown Up", a new cabaret featuring seventeen-year-old France's sweetheart Marie Oppert (Les Parapluies de Cherbourg, Sound of Music, Alice...) and several guest performers, including Sarah Tullamore and Doryan Ben. The cabaret will be accompanied by John Florencio and directed by Lisandro Nesis. The second part of the evening will include the "American Composers, European Premieres" set and an American musical theatre open mic, both accompanied by John Florencio and co-hosted by Lisandro Nesis and Sarah Tullamore. The featured composers of the month will be Kyle Ewalt and Michael Ian Walker, and a selection of songs from their shows Bromance: The Dudesical, Pumped, The Lucky Ones and The Making of Madeline Moore will be performed by Sarah Tullamore, Emmanuel Suarez, Lisandro Nesis, Tolgay Pekin, Tatiana Santini and Jessica Gabrielle.
Broadway au Carré takes place the first Wednesday evening of each month at Le Carré Parisien located at 1, rue du Général Beuret, 75015 Paris, France. Doors open at 7 pm, showtime at 7:30 pm followed by an Open Mic at 9 pm. 10€ / 8€ (students) cover charge includes a drink. Reservations required at reservationscarreparisien@gmail.com.
