Finnish Oscar Academy Award finalist is set to hit national screens and theatres ahead of the gala event. Alongside the short film titled, "Do I Have to Care of Everything I do" is a maiden feature assortment "KORSO" by Helsinki based filmmaker - Tuffi films.
Producer Elli Toivoniemi confirmed the twin events to BroadwayWorld noting that the film will be aired twice on YLE television- national broadcasting channel. "We are premiering with our first feature film Korso and both will be in theatres and YLE TV," said film producer. The feature depicts a character of a middle-aged man with aspirations of becoming an all-star basketball player in New York.
The character named Markus, who hails from Korso, a suburb that basketball by reality, is a mirage. "Markus dreams to become a basketball star in New York, but reality in Korso is a far away from that," a producer's sneak of the film notes. The 20-year-old youngster battles through a heap of challenges in a bid to raise his hopes to star-studded game. While details of the film remained sketchy, the producer is upbeat that the new product in the kitchen will even offer more value to the audience.
Directed by Akseli with co-writers Kirsikka Saari and Jenni Toivoniemi, the feature is among a bunch of other projects, according to the filmmakers. News of the feature comes amid high expectation from Oscar gala for the maiden Finnish short film that surprisingly made to the list of prestigious Academy Awards finalists in 'Best Live Action Short Film category - the first in their category too. The 72-hour film folded into 6.50 minutes will be the only Finnish dash movie in the Oscar Awards.
Popular Finnish comedian and director, Selmi Vilhunen expressed optimism upon receiving news of the nomination to Oscar awards list among other four nominees. By clinching a spot in the competitive Oscar Awards, there are growing hopes on the ground that results would reinvigorate the film industry particularly short films. "It is so exciting, fun, honored and we are thrilled!" said ecstatic producer of the short film which is squaring out with other five Oscar nominees. The others are Aquel no era yo (translated as: "That Wasn't Me') of Spain, Helium of Denmark, The Voorman Problem, UK and Avant que de tout perdre "(Just Before Losing Everything)" France.
