About

The Denver Fringe Festival is an open-access, non-juried performing arts festival dedicated to supporting independent artists and promoting diverse artistic voices. Featuring original, innovative, and experimental work, the festival welcomes a wide range of performance genres, including theatre, musical theatre, comedy, improv, cabaret, circus, dance, and immersive experiences. The festival's mission is to make live performance accessible to both artists and audiences by keeping participation fees low and ticket prices affordable. Each year, Denver Fringe transforms venues across the Five Points and RiNo Art Districts into performance spaces, providing a platform for emerging and established artists to showcase their work.

Submission Requirements

The Denver Fringe Festival accepts applications from December 15, 2024, through February 1, 2025. Artists must submit their applications online at denverfringe.org along with a non-refundable $25 application fee. The festival welcomes both premieres and works that have been performed elsewhere, including national and international applicants, though a portion of performance slots are reserved for Colorado artists.

All shows must be original, between 45-60 minutes in length, and designed with simplified technical requirements to accommodate the festival’s shared venue spaces. Applicants may only submit one show, and artists who have previously performed at the festival must apply with a different production. Once accepted, participants must submit a signed artist agreement and liability waiver, along with production fees, by March 15, 2025. Production details, including cast and crew bios, promotional materials, and images, must be submitted by April 1.

Finances

The Denver Fringe Festival keeps participation costs low to make the event accessible to artists of all backgrounds. Production fees range from $150 to $500, depending on venue type and the number of performances. Artists receive 70% of their net box office revenue, with payments distributed within four weeks after the festival.

The festival provides essential production support, including performance venues, tech and front-of-house personnel, ticketing services, festival-wide marketing, and artist passes for free admission to other performances. Scholarships are available to cover production fees for artists from historically marginalized or underrepresented communities.
