THE 25th ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE with music and lyrics by William Finn and book by Rachel Sheinkin will play on March 4, 5, and 6 and 7:30 pm and on March 7 and 2:00 pm.

Quirky, yet heartwarming, THE 25th ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE chronicles the angst and joy of six adolescent outcasts. Their mentors barely managed to escape childhood themselves, and special audience guest spellers during the spelling championship of a lifetime. Letter-by-letter, the roster of participants in this Tony Award winning musical soon find that winning isn't everything and losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser.

THE 25th ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE is a one act musical comedy.  The musical moved Off-Broadway to the Second Stage Theatre opening on January 11, 2005 in previews, officially on February 7, 2005, and closed on March 20, 2005, where it enjoyed critical and box-office success. SPELLING BEE premiered on Broadway at the Circle in the Square Theatre on April 15, 2005 and closed on January 20, 2008 after 1,136 performances.

The 2005 Broadway production, directed by James Lapine, earned good reviews and box-office success and was nominated for six Tony Awards, winning two, including Best Book. The show has spawned various other productions in the U.S., including a national tour with performances in Canada, and Australian productions.
