Fargo Moorhead Community Theatre (FMCT) presents Calendar Girls on March 16, 17, 23, 24 at 7:30pm and March 18 & 25 at 2pm at The Stage at Island Park.
Based on the hit British film starring Helen Mirren and Julie Walters, Calendar Girls is a heart-warming comedy that tackles the topic of grief, while celebrating the tenacity, creativity, and sass of the female bond.
When Annie's husband, John, dies of leukemia, she and best friend Chris resolve to raise money for a new bench in the local hospital waiting room. They manage to persuade four fellow Women's Institute members to pose nude with them for an "alternative" calendar, with a little help from hospital porter, an amateur photographer. The news of the women's charitable venture spreads like wildfire, and hordes of press soon descend on their small village. But how will the new-found fame affect them all?
Directed by D. Marie Long, the cast includes Dawn Gunderson, Jean Sando, Tanya Weets, Mary Cochran, Jeanette Smith Murphy, Stephanie Shea, Lauri Winterfeldt, Linda Hinrichs, Bill Lucas, Lee Klocke, Lucas Rutten, Ashleigh Kost, and Amanda Leftridge.
An audio described performance will be offered on Friday, March 16, with assistive listening devices available to patrons at the FMCT Box Office for all performances.
Tickets go on sale to the general public on Monday, February 26. To purchase tickets, or to become a member of FMCT member with early access to tickets, visit fmct.org or call 701.235.6778.
