Fargo Moorhead Community Theatre (FMCT) presents XANADU on July 11, 12, 13 & 14 at 7:30pm and on July 15 at 2pm at The Stage at Island Park.
A hilarious, tongue-in-check update of the infamous cult-classic movie starring Olivia Newton-John and Gene Kelly, XANADU follows goddess Kira as she travels from Mount Olympus to 1980s California seeking to inspire a struggling young artist. A vision in leg warmers and wind-swept hair, she helps this hunky painter find his voice, discover true love, and build the world's first roller disco (not necessarily in that order).
XANADU rolls along to legendary pop-rock hits by Electric Light Orchestra's Jeff Lynne and John Farrar including "Magic," "Evil Woman," "Suddenly," "I'm Alive," "Have You Never Been Mellow," and "Xanadu."
FMCT's production is directed by NDSU Associate Professor of Theatre, Hardy Koenig, and features a dynamic cast, crew, and band bringing to life the idyllic fantasy world of XANADU with roller skates and disco balls in tow. The production also marks a new opportunity for adults to be involved with FMCT's expanded summer programming initiatives.
Tickets go on sale to the general public on Monday, June 25. To purchase tickets, or to become a FMCT member with early access to tickets, visit fmct.org or call 701.235.6778.
