CALENDAR GIRLS is coming to Fargo Moorhead Community Theatre! Based on a true story, (and the 2003 movie of the same name), CALENDAR GIRLS features the middle-aged members of a women's club, struggling to raise money for cancer research after the husband of one member succumbs to leukemia. In a rather unexpected turn of events, they decide to raise funds by posing nude for a calendar. CALENDAR GIRLS will open March 16th, and run through March 25th.
In an interview with Inforum, Director D. Marie Long spoke on the suggestion of nudity in the play, speaking on themes of bravery and inclusion. "We have talked a lot about the bravery these women had to put themselves out there, both the original women whose story we're telling, and the women in our cast. But it's a bravery that is only possible through the encouragement and support of the other people around them... We should all be so lucky to find a means to love our own bodies, regardless of wrinkles or rolls or shape. I hope our audiences feel empowered and beautiful in the exact way they already are.""
