Breakdown

MAE
Female, 32, any ethnicity. A lawyer in Minneapolis with a huge interior life. Translucent. Not particularly sentimental or emotional. She starts and stops suddenly. When she turns on, everything can come rushing out and she'll tell anybody anything. She can be extremely raw. But she can also bottle up and be quite reserved and even stand-offish. A little neurotic. Struggling and not sure who to turn to. Alone.

DAD
Male, late 50s-60s, any ethnicity. Mae's father. Has a certain gentleness and a deep, but not showy, intelligence -- he is not an intellectual. Philosophical but not on purpose. Curious. Able to be vulnerable and has a warm sense of humor. Enjoys telling stories but also very down to earth. A little mischievous. Has a great enthusiasm for life. Scared but putting on a brave face.

MAC
Male, early 30s, any ethnicity but is NOT Caucasian. A little lost and lonely. Not always the most aware person but possesses a good heart and good intentions. Wants to hook up, also wants to be a good guy -- mostly, just wants to not be so alone. Adventurous and up for anything.

COWBOY
Male, any ethnicity. Aggressive, raw, in control, and sexual. Intelligent, with a great sense of humor. Flickers of empathy and friendliness - he can also be someone's companion.

JENNY
Female, late 20s, any ethnicity. MAE's sister. A sweet, sensitive, and emotional little sister. Can be a little twitchy and boisterous. Actor should be good with quick language and rapid emotional shifts.

HANNAH
Female, late 20s to late 30s, any ethnicity. MAE's sister. The leader of the siblings. Grounded, but funny, and a little bawdy. Actor should be good with quick language and rapid emotional shifts.

MATTHEW
Male, late 20s to late 30s, any ethnicity. MAE's brother. Sensitive and a little cynical. Speaks his mind. Opinionated. Puts up a brave front but is still vulnerable. Actor should be good with quick language and rapid emotional shifts.
