SEEKING

FUTURE REPLACEMENTS:

SOPHIE SCHOLL: [CAST] Character is female-presenting (cis, transgender, or nonbinary), 20 years old. A new university student joining her older brother, Hans, in Munich. She believes that this will be her opportunity to do something, anything, to resist the Nazi regime. She still believes that Munich and the university are places one can speak their mind and explore great thoughts. When the reality of the situation becomes apparent, she decides to stay and take action, leading her brother’s group of friends into action. She is feisty and impulsive, traits that get her into dangerous situations (which her brother tries to keep her out of). Strong singer. Alto, Mezzo, or low Soprano with belt.

PROFESSOR KURT HUBER: [CAST] Character is male-presenting (cis, transgender, or nonbinary), 50 years old. Although he appears to be a cliché university professor, Huber despises the Nazi regime and cleverly teaches free thought right under their noses. His rebellion stops at jokes and snide remarks though . . . until Sophie arrives. She stirs in him feelings of guilt and shame for his past failures to act, but provides him with an opportunity to make amends and make a change. Strong singer. Tenor.

HANS SCHOLL: [CAST] Character is male-presenting (cis, transgender, or nonbinary), 23 years old. An army medic and university student in between deployments. Passionately anti-Nazi, but has done nothing to actively resist or rebel. Haunted by his past as a youth who was seduced by the Nazis and became a devout follower until a fateful experience at the great rallies in Nuremberg. A protective older brother, he puts it upon himself to keep Sophie safe when she joins him at the university. She often sees his protection as condescending and demeaning. Strong singer. Tenor.

WILLI GRAF: [CAST] Character is male-presenting (cis, trangender, or nonbinary), 24 years old. An army medic and university student in between deployments. Bitter, jaded, snarky. His experiences as a medic on the frontlines has given him a first-hand look at the horrors of war and the atrocities committed in Hitler’s name. Often on the verge of boiling over. Strong singer. Tenor.

FREDERICK FISCHER: [CAST] Character is male-presenting (cis, transgender, or nonbinary), 23 years old. A police officer who does not feel right in the uniform. He has been assigned to track down resistance activity in Munich because he once attended the university there. In fact, he was once a rebellious student, but had a change of heart. He has past ties to more than one White Rose member. Strong singer. Bari-Tenor.

CHRISTOPH PROBST: [CAST] Character is male-presenting (cis, transgender, or nonbinary), 23 years old. An army medic and university student in between deployments. Loyal to his friends, even paternal, he hates the Nazis, but doesn’t think there is anything that can be done . . . until Sophie arrives. Strong singer. Bari-Tenor.

LILA AND OTHERS: [CAST] Character is female-presenting (cis, transgender, or nonbinary), early 20s, doubles as various roles (including Lila, a shopkeeper hiding her Jewish identity). Strong singer.

DREXLER AND OTHERS: [CAST] Character is male-presenting (cis, transgender, or nonbinary), doubles as various roles (including a Nazi officer). Can be a peer with the students. Strong singer.

OFF-STAGE FEMALE-PRESENTING SWING: [CAST] Female-presenting, early 20s. Will cover various roles.
