All abilities, ethnicities, cultural, and gender identities are welcome to audition with encouragement to Black, Indigenous, AAPI, People of Color and Trans Artists. TTT employs diverse, inclusive, and gender imaginative casting for all roles as culturally appropriate to the telling of the story. Even if you do not see yourself directly reflected in the roles in the breakdown, please feel welcome to schedule/submit your audition for consideration.

An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of this audition.

Please prepare a classic or heightened language monologue, 2 minute maximum.
Additionally, if desired: prepare a short song of your choice, a cappella. There will not be an accompanist on site. We wish to hear singing acapella to reflect the minimal instrumentation that is used under performance conditions. Also, please bring a headshot and resume with you to auditions. If you are unable to attend in-person, we will be accepting virtual audition pieces. The deadline for virtual auditions is June 1st at 5pm CT.

Three live productions: multi-racial and gender imaginative casting. Most actors will play multiple roles.
Ten Thousand Things believes that artists are our biggest asset and are committed to providing livable wages. Local Minnesota / the Twin Cities actors are encouraged to audition.

Violet: Title character, young North Carolina woman whose face was scarred in a childhood accident. Stubborn and prickly.
Flick: Soldier; a dreamer and go-getter. Doesn’t enjoy the army but enjoys the respect it garners him. Monty: Paratrooper and Flick’s friend from Basic Training. Rough around the edges. Young Vi: Not quite as guarded or prickly as her older self, but still tough and stubborn. Father: A simple, widowed man who lovingly raises his daughter alone doing the best he can. Old Lady: A former beauty in her heyday. Staunch, tired and frustrated with life.
Preacher: an impassioned, theatrical man.
Virgil: Preacher’s assistant.
Music Hall Singer: Singer at the dance hall
Lulu Buffington: Member of the volunteer choir that sings for the preacher’s telecast. Leroy Evans: Citizen of Spruce Pine with a dog named Roscoe.
