Breakdown

JERRY:
Male, Caucasian, in his 20's or 30's. Charming, boyish, unselfconscious, eager, naïve, “fancy-free” and a natural talent. A young Gregory Peck who can dance - more of a Gene Kelly than a Fred Astaire, but one who seems unaware of his own charm and yet sometimes appears to try harder than required.

BUDDY:
Male, Caucasian, in his 20's or 30's, very handsome all-American guy from Michigan. He's well-built and dreamy, but a little on the simple side. Just wants to get married and settle down. Completely out of his element in the big city.

DALE:
Female, Caucasian, mid 20's, approx. 25-27, A small-town girl climbing up on the Broadway ladder toward uncertain stardom. Smart, independent, plucky, fiery, rough-around-the-edges. Her life is in crisis - she wants it all, but seems to have to choose between love and success. She wants meaning in her life - is show business really the answer?
