SEEKING

Equity actors for principal roles in THE SOUND OF MUSIC (see breakdown).

All stage managerial positions have been filled.

The Fireside will promote a fully vaccinated workplace. You must be fully vaccinated in order to audition. You will be required to be fully vaccinated prior to day of auditions and provide proof of vaccination.


INSTRUCTIONS

Submit an unlisted YouTube audition featuring you singing one of the five song selections from https://www.dropbox.com/sh/g3f7ipwtbmzh22n/AAAEirrmfPrXYqgaCFA2t1Dha?dl=0 . Include your headshot and resume. Submissions must be received no later than 5:00PM EST on December 20 2021.

BREAKDOWN

All principal roles will be understudied.

Maria Rainer (musical theatre mix/soprano, moves well, 20-3530) A postulant at Nonnberg Abbey – young, free spirited, warm, gentle.

Captain Georg von Trapp (baritone, moves well, 3530-45) A retired Austrian naval captain. Polished, yet very military in the way he runs his life; underneath, he is warm, understanding.

Max Detweiller (tenor/baritone, moves well, 30+) Charming and vital; a man of sophistication who enjoys the good life; true and loyal friend to the von Trapp family.

Elsa Schrader (mezzo soprano, moves well, 30-45) A baroness of taste and elegance, sophisticated, dignified and mature.

Mother Abbess (legit soprano, wide vocal range, 40+, very strong actress) Motherly, understanding, strong and authoritative, but kind.

Sister Berthe (alto, moves well, 30 - 45) Mistress of Novices, prudish, straight-laced with a quick tongue,

Sister Margaretta (mezzo, moves well, 25 - 45) Mistress of Postulants, very kind, understanding.

Sister Sophia (soprano, moves well 25-35) Neither demanding nor critical, sticks with the rules.

Rolf Gruber (low tenor, dance, adult actor who can play 17) Suitor to Liesl, telegram delivery boy, A very pleasant young man.

Liesl von Trapp (mezzo, dance, adult actor who can play 16) Von Trapp’s oldest child, blossoming into a young lady with an interest in boys.

Actors from the Fort Atkinson area encouraged to submit for the following roles.

Marta, Age 7-8

Gretl, Age 6-7
