Breakdown
NOTE: This is a WORLD PREMIERE. Synopsis: It’s 1996, the hip-hop scene is roaring, and T.O. has arrived in the city, eager to immerse himself in a culture he’s only observed from the safety of the suburbs. He falls hard for Prima, an MC who entrances him with her music and her authenticity. When he lies and schemes to stay in her life, is it in the name of true love or just another part of his obsession with the hip-hop lifestyle?
Seeking:
PROFESSOR BROWN:
Female, African American, early 40’s – 50’s. Smart as a whip. Though she has no patience for BS she sees the potential in students and is entirely willing to challenge and push them. Type A and unapologetic. She's a bit of an elitist but not a snob.
PRIMA:
Female, Latina, early 20’s. A Puerto Rican rapper ghetto superstar. She is clever and savvy. Breathes and lives hip hop. She is passionate, opinionated and tough. She is also tied closely to her neighborhood and takes care of everybody in her household. A strong sense of responsibility but has dreams to see the world and believes her rhymes will do that
