Male; 30s-40s, charismatic, attractive, a dynamic con man, baritone (A flat to High F)

MARIAN PAROO:
Female, late 20s-30s; soprano leading lady, stuffy, stuck up town librarian and music teacher, soprano (Low G-High A)

MARCELLUS WASHBURN:
Male, 30s-40s, Professor Hill’s best friend, any ethnicity, energetic comic character, likeable and infectious, must sing and move very well, tenor (G-High A)

MRS. PAROO:
Female, 50s-60s, Marian’s mother, mezzo soprano (A flat-E flat)

MAYOR SHINN:
Male, 40s-50s, Mayor of River City, blustery politician, strong physical presence, traditional thinker yet eccentric and a little off-center, baritone or tenor

EULALIE MACKECKNIE SHINN:
Female, 40s-50s, the Mayor’s peacock wife, large personality and strong physical presence, alto (D-D).
