MICHAEL – male, 17-18. The oldest of the Emerson boys. As archetypes go, he’s our brooding teen. Conflicted. Bit of a loner. Has become the protector of the family against his alcoholic father’s abusive behavior. He carries a lot of pain inside. And has grown up quicker than he should’ve. But he doesn’t ask for sympathy. Deep down he longs to be a part of a tribe where he belongs and finds connection. He’ll find it in Star and David but it will come, unsuspectingly, at a price. Rock Bari-tenor.
SAM –male, 18+ to play 15. Michael’s younger teen brother. Back in Arizona, he developed a keen wit that acts as an effective defensive tool against bullies. Both at school and at home. He’s outgoing as opposed to Michael’s introverted personality. Pours himself into comic books as an escape. He’s a mall rat who experiences culture shock after moving to the off-beat Santa Carla. Despite his sense of humor, Sam is sensitive and waiting to break free. And he is about to learn what he’s truly made of in this strange California beach town. High rock tenor, good falsetto.
DAVID – male, 20s. Intense, dangerous, and charismatic leader of the Lost Boys. He can disarm with a smile. An old soul in many ways, he sees in Michael a possible partner for whom he has waited a long time. He offers safety and security to all he enlists to be a part of his family. He offers a security to Michael that Michael never had from his own father. To Star, he offers love but it comes at a price. Rock Bari-tenor.
MAX – male, mid forties-50. The owner and founder of Videomax video stores. Lucy’s boss. He hires her on the spot after being charmed by her. They have an attraction despite their differences and backgrounds. He is the embodiment of 80s Reagan can-do conservatism and optimistic capitalism. He’s kind and charming and seems to be the answer to Lucy’s problems. A single father himself, with his own grown boys, he offers Lucy stability and, in his opinion, what every young man needs: a stable father figure. We will come to find he’s got ulterior motives and is the head vampire to the Lost Boys. Strong singer.
EDGAR FROG – male, 18+ to play 14-15. Santa Carla local. Militant in devotion and dress. He and his brother Alan have seen one too many Chuck Norris movies. They hang at the local comic book store and have both poured themselves into fighting the main threat to Santa Carla: vampires. Since no one believes them, they have to find the perfect recruits to enlist in their “army.” They find it in a reluctant Sam. Rock tenor.
ALAN FROG – male (cis, trans, or non-binary), alto voice, 18+ to play 14-15. The more hardcore of the Frog Brothers. Intense and lacking any sense of humor. Alan is full force. Tougher than Edgar but Edgar keeps them in check. They’re a good team and are as devoted to each other as they are to fighting vamps. The Frog Bros intensity is comedic because they take themselves so seriously. They ultimately help Sam dig deeper by challenging him to stand up and fight for what is right. Strong rock alto.
LUCY – female, early 40s. The matriarch of the Emerson family. A former hippie whose faith in people and goodness has gotten her into trouble in the past. (read: her ex-husband) She carries a lot of guilt for the pain she’s put her kids through. Messy, kind-hearted and resilient, she’s determined to start anew and protect her family. She and Michael have their own underlying tensions as he blames her for staying too long in her marriage. He feels she didn’t protect him. Lucy finds possible male companionship in Santa Carla and starts to be seduced by the sexiest notion of all: stability. High rock belt. – THIS ROLE HAS BEEN CAST
STAR – female, 17-18. A teenager with a troubled past. She holds a lot of pain but is fiercely protective of showing herself. She has a biting sense of humor and sees Michael at first as a little lamb lost in the woods. She has sought refuge in David but feels regret about the state of her situation. She finds connection in an unlikely partner in Michael. They bond in their trauma. High rock belt. – THIS ROLE HAS BEEN CAST
MARKO – male, 20s. Perhaps he’s the most loyal to David and considers himself to be the “favorite”. He’s not. He loves this family of his. Playful. Preferably can play an instrument in a rock band. Role requires comedy chops as well as being intimidating. Strong rock voice. – THIS ROLE HAS BEEN CAST
PAUL – male, 20s. Marko’s best friend. Earnest. A great sense of humor. Thinks he’s David’s favorite as well. Ready to defend his brothers at any cost. Preferably can play an instrument in a rock band. Role requires comedy chops as well as being intimidating. Strong rock voice. – THIS ROLE HAS BEEN CAST
DWAYNE – character portrayed is male, 20s. The live wire of the group. Quieter but loyal and violent. Preferably can play an instrument in a rock band. Role requires comedy chops as well as being intimidating. Strong rock voice. – THIS ROLE HAS BEEN CAST
